Mount Pleasant is a neighbourhood in Vancouver that goes from Cambie Street to Clarke Drive, and from 2nd Ave and 16th and Kingsway.
Vancouver City Hall is in the middle, on the corner of 12th and Cambie. This neighbourhood is where many first time home buyers and young professionals call home. The area is growing with a number of young families.
It is also where a lot of artists and writers live. Mount Pleasant can be called Vancouver’s “first suburb”. It was given its name in 1888.
In a 2016 survey, it was found that Mount Pleasant has a population of about 33,000 and roughly 11% of them are under the age of 20.
About half the population is between the age of 20 and 39. The median income per household is roughly $66, 000, and about 16% of the population in Mount Pleasant is considered to be living under low income conditions.
